Our History

Foochow Methodist Church established its first preschool in 1965. Over the years, it has pressed on with its vision to offer a faith based preschool education in the Farrer Park vicinity. In 2023, Foochow Methodist Church decided to partner Little Olive Tree, by Presbyterian Preschool Services, and the preschool will be re-established as Little Olive Tree (FMC Farrer Park) from Jan 2024. The preschool strives to tell the story of God’s truth, beauty, and goodness. We offer a holistic curriculum that encompasses both academic and character development with the distinctive outcome of nurturing every child to become a joyful learner and leader who is a blessing to society.

Our Values

“But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.” Psalm 52:8

In the Bible, the flowering olive tree represents beauty, abundance and fruitfulness. It is our hope for Little Olive Tree Preschools to be a safe space for children to grow and flourish in. We also hope that as our children grow up, they will always be rooted in the lessons and values we impart to them while they are with us.
To build a strong foundation in truth, beauty and goodness in our children
Little Olive Tree wants our children to see, understand and act based on biblical principles, values and perspectives in a world where truth is often distorted, beauty corrupted and goodness disregarded. We ask ourselves: what is the chief end of education? If it is just academic and future employment success, we are far too short-sighted for our children’s own good. In our preschools, the Truth, Beauty and Goodness curriculum aims to break the moulds of traditional education goals.
  • Truth: We desire to teach our children what truth is, and set them up on a quest for truth.
  • Beauty: We desire to help the children appreciate beauty in the created world around them.
  • Goodness: We desire the children to pursue goodness both on the inside and outside.

The A.P.P.L.E Curriculum for Playgroup:
Learning Through Play, Growing with Purpose
At Little Olive Tree Preschools, we believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged in play. That’s why we’ve designed the A.P.P.L.E Curriculum – Active Play & Purposeful Learning Experiences, a hands-on, exploratory program that nurtures your child’s curiosity and love for learning.
Inspired by Jean Piaget’s Cognitive Development Theory and Lev Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory, our curriculum recognizes that play is not just fun, it is essential for brain development. Through play, children experiment, explore, and make sense of the world around them. Our teachers act as facilitators, creating meaningful learning experiences and guiding children to interact confidently with their peers and adults.
A.P.P.L.E aims to stimulate all seven senses—beyond just sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch, we also develop two crucial senses that support physical awareness and coordination:
✔ Proprioception (knowing where our body is in space)
✔ Vestibular sense (balance and movement)
By integrating these elements into everyday play, children develop better coordination, focus, and confidence. Carefully curated learning environments with hands-on materials encourage children to engage in active, purposeful play, where every moment is an opportunity to grow, discover, and thrive.
With the A.P.P.L.E Curriculum, your child will not only develop academically but also build essential life skills—creativity, problem-solving, and social confidence—preparing them for a bright future!

Our Centre Leader

May Ten

A bottle of real honey encapsulates my values and approach as a leader as honey represents God’s gifts and grace in the Bible.

Honey that is counterfeit or impure does not offer the healing benefits of real, authentic honey. God’s word reminds me that kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Thus, I pray that I will continue to persevere and stay positive through difficulties so that I can be a healing balm for my team, uplifting and supporting them in times of need.
