Isaiah chapter 6 describes how the Lord prepared Isaiah to deliver His message to the people of Judah. In Isaiah’s vision, he saw the Lord, “sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple” (Isaiah 6:1). Angelic seraphim flying about called out to each other, proclaiming the Lord’s holiness. As Isaiah gazed upon the holiness of God, he was overwhelmed with emotions and made painfully aware of his own unworthiness and the sinfulness of his people. At this point, one of the seraphim brought a burning coal from the altar to touch his lips, cleansing him from sin and guilt.

Having been filled with awe at the presence of God and experiencing God’s gracious atonement of his sins, Isaiah is now prepared to represent the Lord. He would be sent to preach to his people, who also need the Lord’s cleansing and to repent of their sins.

How about you? If you have come to know this great and awesome Creator God, and you have experienced his boundless love in gracious atonement for your sins through His Son Jesus Christ, hear Him calling out today, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?”

There are many around us whose hearts are dull, their ears heavy, and their eyes blind to God (Isaiah 6:10). But all the more they need to hear God’s message for them. In cleansing you of your sins through Christ, God has already prepared you to be His messenger. You don’t need to be an influencer or a great evangelist. If you have just one friend, one neighbour, or a family member who does not know Jesus, you already have a harvest field before you.

Would you respond faithfully to God’s call to share the message of the gospel with that one person? God is searching to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9a). Would you respond to Him, saying, “Here I am! Send me”? Reach out to one for Jesus today.

Let us pray:
Our heavenly Father God, I stand in awe of Your mighty presence, and I worship You, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Thank you for atoning for my sins and cleansing me by the precious blood of Your Son, Jesus Christ. In Him, I have been set free from the power of sin and death. In His gracious atonement, You have prepared me to be Your holy instrument for Your glory. Lord, give me the courage and boldness to respond to Your call, to share the good news of Jesus Christ with that one person whom You have prepared and will lead me to share with. I commit myself to Your kingdom’s cause. Help me, Lord. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray. Amen.
