Isaiah 53:4-5; Luke 23:45-46

Isaiah 53:4-5; Luke 23:45-46

Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last. – Luke 23:46

Preparation:
Sit quietly, relax. Enter into the inner room of your heart, close the door. With full attention, come into the presence of the Lord… Pray that the Holy Spirit grant you grace, and lead you in the following time of contemplation.

Meditation:
Jesus suffered for our sins

Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:4-5)

While the sun’s light failed. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last. (Luke 23:45-46)

Jesus was really dead! Everything he had done and what he had endured is for us. He reversed the situation and because of his salvation, we have peace and are healed. This is grace! Ask the Lord help us not to forget the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus; ask the Lord to let us remember always, “all my sins have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus!’

Contemplation (5 – 10min):
  • Close your eyes, gaze on Jesus who was crucified for our sake…
  • Repeatedly proclaim, “In the Cross, in the Cross, be my glory ever, till my raptured soul shall find rest beyond the river!”
  • Be in silence for a while, close in the Lord’s prayer.
